If Were President Obama, This Month I Would --

The New Poster of the Presidents of the United States (Pres. Obama included)
If I were President Obama, now that the Republicans will balance out the power --
  1. I would root out all the corruption I can, starting with Democrats. If he doesn't Republicans will. And it will be messy.
  2. I would avoid the temptaation of ramming bills through Congress to make them laws. If I said I believe in working across the aisle, I would actually work across the aisle. You are already fighting a George Bush-like image in this and your supporters will continue to lose respect if you do not bring real change to how the White House is done.
  3. I would add a Republican to the Cabinet. Maybe an independent also, one who is truly nonpartisan. You will win more support from moderates.
  4. Law low until the State of the Union speech. Work hard behind the scenes. You are fantastic at giving big speeches, but less impressive with the little ones. At the end of the day, remember you are not as gifted as Ronald Reagan when it comes to speaking on the spot. You aren't as bad as Bush was, but save your thunder. You can restore your whammy-image you enjoyed in 2008.
  5. I would stop my supporters from trashing Sarah Palin as a quitter, given his own role quitting the State of Illinois to run for president, and with, now Rahm Emanuel quitting his post mid-term to run for Chicago's mayor. It might be different, but only the most academic politics can explain the distinction.
  6. Really, really work to be less partisan.

Obama's Approval Rating an Impressive 50%

Almost equally George W Bush's 82%, and slightly better than Ronald Reagan's 49%, President Obama's approval ranks a solid eighth in presidents since Dwight D Eisenhower.

Better than Reagan? Worse than Bush?

Incidentally, that's Eisenhower on the dollar, not Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

Jay Leno Plays the Straight Man, Barack Obama Does Not

In these days of manipulative media, from Rush Limbaugh to Jon Stewart, one thing is sure: If you want to be liked, you need to get on a talk show.

As some scrutiny finally kicks in by more serious media, Barack Obama campaigns on Jay Leno's show. Almost as good as Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, both masters of mugging the camera, we are seeing a new side of Obama: Love me tender.

Viewers might remark how much they love Obama, or are finding their love renewed. Drool? Droll? Either way, funnyman Jay Leno was clearly the straight man here tonight. He bent over backwards to appeal to Obama.

To Obama's credit, he is likable. John McCain lost the election, aside from Republican-hate and/or legitimately different views, because he was not as good looking or charismatic. It was Nixon vs Kennedy all over again. And Obama is smooth on camera. He has that cigarette commercial flair.

When the gloves finally come off, and intelligent deconstructions of what Obama is doing finally are not considered 'hating on my man', it will be interesting. When ObamaLove (t-shirts) moves to maturity, and his unified splendor runs cold (different t-shirt), what will have happened? A better economy? Freedom for Iraqis and the end of a war? Let's hope so.

How long before Obama's millions of lovers chase another man, and President Obama can get down to being president? He's bogged down by all of this, as necessary politically as it is. It could be worse, but John Kerry (who is much less funny) quit early.

Barack Obama Still Campaigns: He's Afraid?

He leads in every significant poll. He has more more money than the richest Republican candidate. The media loves him.

And still, he campaigns.

He has nothing to be afraid of. His supporters love him as much as Ronald Reagan's supporters.

Why?

Why not?
