President Obama's Statement on the Bipartisan Agreement on the Budget

Late Friday evening, President Obama addressed the Nation from the Blue Room at the White House on the bipartisan agreement on the budget. As the President put it, leaders from both parties "acted on behalf of our children’s future" by finding the common ground necessary to keep the government open for business.

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT ON THE BUDGET

11:04 P.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. Behind me, through the window, you can see the Washington Monument, visited each year by hundreds of thousands from around the world. The people who travel here come to learn about our history and to be inspired by the example of our democracy -- a place where citizens of different backgrounds and beliefs can still come together as one nation.

Tomorrow, I’m pleased to announce that the Washington Monument, as well as the entire federal government, will be open for business. And that's because today Americans of different beliefs came together again.
In the final hours before our government would have been forced to shut down, leaders in both parties reached an agreement that will allow our small businesses to get the loans they need, our families to get the mortgages they applied for, and hundreds of thousands of Americans to show up at work and take home their paychecks on time, including our brave men and women in uniform.

This agreement between Democrats and Republicans, on behalf of all Americans, is on a budget that invests in our future while making the largest annual spending cut in our history. Like any worthwhile compromise, both sides had to make tough decisions and give ground on issues that were important to them. And I certainly did that.
Some of the cuts we agreed to will be painful. Programs people rely on will be cut back. Needed infrastructure projects will be delayed. And I would not have made these cuts in better circumstances.
But beginning to live within our means is the only way to protect those investments that will help America compete for new jobs -- investments in our kids’ education and student loans; in clean energy and life-saving medical research. We protected the investments we need to win the future.
At the same time, we also made sure that at the end of the day, this was a debate about spending cuts, not social issues like women’s health and the protection of our air and water. These are important issues that deserve discussion, just not during a debate about our budget.
I want to think Speaker Boehner and Senator Reid for their leadership and their dedication during this process. A few months ago, I was able to sign a tax cut for American families because both parties worked through their differences and found common ground. Now the same cooperation will make possible the biggest annual spending cut in history, and it’s my sincere hope that we can continue to come together as we face the many difficult challenges that lie ahead, from creating jobs and growing our economy to educating our children and reducing our deficit. That's what the American people expect us to do. That's why they sent us here.
A few days ago, I received a letter from a mother in Longmont, Colorado. Over the year, her son’s eighth grade class saved up money and worked on projects so that next week they could take a class trip to Washington, D.C. They even have an appointment to lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The mother wrote that for the last few days the kids in her son’s class had been worried and upset that they might have to cancel their trip because of a shutdown. She asked those of us in Washington to get past our petty grievances and make things right. And she said, “Remember, the future of this country is not for us. It’s for our children.”
Today we acted on behalf of our children’s future. And next week, when 50 eighth graders from Colorado arrive in our nation’s capital, I hope they get a chance to look up at the Washington Monument and feel the sense of pride and possibility that defines America -- a land of many that has always found a way to move forward as one.

President Obama Announces Re-Election (What About Palin)

Well, President Barack Obama wasn't go to announce his re-election but on April Fool's Day, but he did today.

Tough times ahead though. He is no longer a new face. No novelty. No history. All about his record, for better or for worse.

He made many promises, kept a few, but the economy is still tanking. The health care debacle continues, but will be cheered by those who think health care is an inalienable right, like life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (such rights do not exist in many countries).

The Republicans could take this one, if they only had a candidate with both a clean record and without histrionics. Mitt Romney looks like a front runner. Ron Paul has possibilities. I don't see Sarah Palin seriously running, though I expect her to stump and fund raise.

What Does an AntiWar President Do? O Death, Where is Your Sting?

The two Koreas are apparently at war, or at least, things seem to be leading that way. Entering the White House, Barack Obama vowed to extract us from war. We are not in this one yet, but he is already talking with China regarding their relationship with North Korea.

While it is a known fact that North Korea's leader is a spineless loudmouth. So is his dad:

"The shelling also comes as North Korea is undergoing a delicate transition of power from leader Kim Jong Il to his young son Kim Jong Un. The son, who is in late 20s, was made a four-star general and nominated to high-ranking Workers' Party posts in the first steps toward eventually succeeding his father."

What a way to start. He's barely out of his diapers, but commands a murderous military inherited from his dishonorable pop.

What will Obama do? It is tricky. Certainly, for now, he is doing what both Democrats and Republicans approve, pursuading. He, nor does any American, does not want the USA to enter another war. Soldiers still fight in Iraq, and that area. However, unlike Iraq, North Korea's nut job president's son is in charge. Iraq's war is led by a scattered crew. Dangerous, yet, but they do not represent a country. Iran has a nut job in charge too.

If everyone puts their guns away, we can move on. If not, will Obama keep his campaign promise, or will he back down in the process of protecting American interests?

A problem for him politically, as whichever way he chooses, he loses. This being true, it does free him at the same time to do whatever is the right thing.

An Inconvenient Truth: Al Gore and Wife Quit Marriage

An Inconvenient Truth author Democrat Al Gore and moralist wife, Tipper, are backing off their wedding vows. Once, Al said of Tipper, that she's "someone I've loved with my whole heart since the night of my high school senior prom."

Legally separated, divorce looks likely on the way. After 40 years, this decision was not made at Britney Spears divorce speeds.

Tipper was not the usual vice presidential who heads up feel-good programs on behalf of the White House (usually this includes the stereotypical female role of nurturing children, be it through improving literacy or decreasing obesity). Instead, Tipper created the Parents Music Resource Center. Like other well-connected wives, she used Al's influence to move it forward.

 To be noted, no mention of a John Edwards-type scandal has appeared. Not even a Monica Lewinsky - Bill Clinton level event. Just two people who find marriage inconvenient.

How will this play on President Barack Obama? For starters, Al is not an elected official. Obama is still married, and no scandals is in any way connected to his marriage. Yet, Gore is a Democrat, Obama is pushing various action for gay marriage. The current gulf oil spill, North Korea and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is biggest on his to-do list, and probably, for Obama, working to the Iraq War follows soon after. In other words, talk shows will mention it, as will blogs like this one, but it will be inconsequential. The average Democrat's view of marriage is flexible, and open top revision. Republicans might crow about Al and Tipper's personal failure to stick with their marriage, but Al's political career is over anyway.

Barack Obama, a Liberal Man's George W Bush: A cowboy without a hat, he wears a mitre.

Constitutional expert and definer Barack Obama, America's current president, is moving forward with speed toward his health care initiative. It is, of course, his Iraq War. Just as cowboy George pushed the Iraq War on a a public which did not exactly understand, Barack is pushing the health care project.

Just like Iraq, a real threat is before us. With Iraq, we looked at terrorism, now vanquished thanks to Barack's excellent negotiating skills. We were scared and stupid. "Crucify them!" we cried, trading the Barabbas of Truth for the Christ of the Middle East. And crucify them we did, not matter how innocent they were. But thankfully, Barack was chosen by the college of blue birds. With the signal of blue smoke, they announced his elevation, and now, troubles no more. Can I hear a sweet amen from his pews?

Here we are now with another looming disaster, but Barack is here, thank God. He has seen their corruption, their malfeasance, their evil. With health care in disarray, ready to topple Washington DC, a new cowboy has ridden into town. Like George W. Bush, he does not need to work bilaterally, but has an agenda that American must have, lest in fall to the the health terrorist. Free markets have gone on long enough, and need wrangling and slaughtering.

As the Constitution so clearly demands, health care is the right of all, Father B as we lovingly like to think of him, has touched this and is healing America. The Constitution declares: Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and health care to be provided by the people for the people at the expense of the people. A tear in my eye is welling up. Please. I need a moment to salute those blessed words as I type.

Rev. George only looked at Iraq. He, never now to become Pope, did not know what to do with health care. His priorities were short-sighted, incapable of caring for his flock. As such, he only served eight years in office, having been merely elected and not chosen.

In St. Washington's Basilca, Father B. speaks from the chair, and has said that he will do whatever is necessary to ensure health care. The Republicans, or as he refers to them, "separated brethren," will deter him no longer. He is working now to institute Slaughter House Rules (Mother Pelosi is assisting), which will assist him in pushing bills not even the great John Kerry dreamed of in the Crusades of 2004.

Tears run still from my eyes. I know now my sins of trusting the corporate insurance companies. How did I dare think they were good? Why did I let them exist? Why did our forefathers miss the inalienable right of health care? Roosevelt? Truman? Dear lords, how, how, how!

George W., you have failed us, though, like your predecessors, you were only human. Repent, and thank God with us that Father B. is here to hear our prayers.

Brilliant Deflective Apology by Barack Obama

Brilliantly deflecting trouble by acknowledging his screwed up. As he said, not realizing the tax problems of his appointees is an honest mistake. He didn't fully research the candidates, and they came up sour.

It also allows him to apologize. George W Bush came across non-apologetic often. As Obama apologizes, his supporters can say, "He admits when he is wrong." It also gives him cachet so that when he chooses to place blame elsewhere, he will have this to point to.

As a media move, incredible. It hardly implies he is not sincere, but he is deft politically, and knows how the media wants to present him.

Sincerity is not seen in a moment, but from a distance, over many moments. In a year, we'll know. For now, the benefit of the doubt.
